Position: Supervising Paralegal 2, Social & Health Services Division, Seattle

Position and Salary

The Attorney General’s Office is recruiting for a permanent full time Paralegal 2 supervisor in the Social & Health Services Division. This position is located in Seattle, Washington, and is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE).

Paralegal 2 (Range 55) salary range: $61,644 - $82,872
The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the preferred candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

The following stipends may apply based on position requirements:

    :
    Effective July 1, 2025, Paralegal 2s assigned to work within King County receive Group C Assignment Pay in addition to their base pay. The Group C pay percentage received at this classification is a limited premium and applies at the Paralegal 2 classification.
  • King County Paralegal 2s – 5% Group C Assignment Pay
  • Incumbents assigned to our Seattle office location receive an additional 5% King County Location Pay stipend.

About the Seattle Social & Health Services Division

The Social & Health Services Division provides legal support to the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) and the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). Our work includes child abuse, neglect, termination of parental rights, vulnerable adult protection and guardianship, foster care, and related proceedings, as well as appeals in these areas. This is fast-paced, high-volume litigation requiring strong communication and time-management skills.

Duties and Essential Functions of a Paralegal 2 Supervisor

We seek dynamic leaders for a team of paralegals. The Paralegal 2 supervisor provides primary legal and administrative support to multiple Assistant Attorneys General, supervises a team of paralegal 1s, and participates in the division’s management team. They work as part of a team of attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants.

Duties include
:

Supervisory
—Supervises, trains, and coaches legal support staff; prioritizes work; assists in hiring and disciplinary processes; approves leave and timekeeping for the team; supports professional development.

Legal support
—Performs complex paralegal duties at an expert level including identifying next steps in litigation, drafting and preparing correspondence, pleadings, briefs, memos, and reports; checks citations; proofs legal documents; schedules meetings and hearings; maintains calendars and deadlines.

Management team
—Coordinates with Administrative Office Manager and other division managers; helps draft office procedures and updates manuals; attends management meetings and planning sessions.
