The Juvenile Division of the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office seeks two enthusiastic, experienced attorneys with a commitment to justice, integrity, compassion, leadership and professionalism to join our team. We pursue innovative, effective responses to youthful offending, including Restorative Justice Initiatives such as CHOOSE 180, Family Intervention and Restorative Services (FIRS), Restorative Community Pathways (RCP) and Truancy Drop-Out Prevention, while holding respondents accountable and supporting victims.

LocationThe Juvenile Division is located in the Clark Children & Family Justice Center in Seattle. These positions are primarily in-person with some telecommuting as business needs allow, subject to a telecommuting agreement. New hires may be required to work in office four days per week for six months. County-issued laptop provided; reliable internet access and responsiveness during scheduled hours required. Candidates must reside in Washington state and be within reasonable distance to the King County worksite.
Job DutiesThe Juvenile Division seeks attorneys with experience in criminal law, preferably with prior juvenile/felony filings, negotiating, and trial experience. Attorneys will handle a large caseload of juvenile criminal matters, including filing, negotiating and trying cases. The candidate should demonstrate interest in Restorative Justice practices and may engage in community outreach as needed. Office hours are generally 8:00am – 5:00pm; court hours 9:00am – 4:30pm.
Regular calendar coverage with occasional weekend coverage via telecommute. These positions are represented by the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Association.
- Skill in planning, preparing, presenting and conducting case strategies to prosecute criminal cases.
- Skill in presenting criminal cases in court.
- Skill in interpreting and explaining policy and law to officials, other professionals and victims/witnesses.
- Skill in managing complex caseloads and maintaining records, logs and case files.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse professionals and the general public.
- Strong legal research, writing and analytical skills.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Strong ability to accept feedback and coaching and apply it in practice.
- Must be Washington State Bar qualified.
- Strong commitment to Race, Equity, Social and Justice issues, including cultural competency.
Salary: $92,770.00 - $ – Commensurate with 2 to approximately 10 years of experience. Exempt position, not eligible for overtime.
