Some of what you'll be doing:

This is a full-time summer internship opportunity. You will work with the EDI office to develop a framework to assess and improve the efficacy of EDI programs and initiatives. This includes becoming familiar with various datasets, understanding metrics and outcomes and how to communicate data back to community and stakeholders.

Some of your essential duties include:
  • Assessment/Program Evaluation
  • Work with the EDI office to manage tracking and reporting systems for internal and external programs, such as consolidating monthly and quarterly program reports, following up with proxies to validate data, etc.
  • Work with the EDI office to develop, maintain and update OEDI databases, data sets and dashboard and generate relevant reports for the office and other stakeholders
  • Assist the EDI office’s efforts to track outputs and articulate impact of efforts.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration/Outreach
  • Work with EDI office to support stakeholder engagement, including attendance to committee and partner meetings, tracking the progress of committee work, organizing committee chairs for alignment, and helping with community-building activities/ideas.
  • Assist the EDI office disseminate relevant information across various mediums, such as email, newsletters, SharePoint, salesforce, and others.
Who you are:
  • A student – You must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program or a recent graduate ( < 1 year ago) in a program.

  • Skilled with Data – You have the ability to design and implement evaluation frameworks and use data-driven metrics to assess impact. You understand how various software tools such as Excel, SharePoint, Power Apps, and Tableau interact with and can be leveraged to streamline and automate reporting and enhance communications, as appropriate. You can gather and analyze complex data and make recommendations.
  • Relationships – You have experience in meaningful, sustainable relationship-building and community-building with racially and culturally diverse people, employees, and communities.
  • Organized and Proactive – You take initiative and are a self-starter. You have the ability to manage multiple milestones in a quick-pace environment.
  • A Creative, Clear Communicator – Exceptional active listening, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
What else you need to know:
  • Work Schedule – This is a summer intern position expected to last for roughly three (3) months. Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.
  • Work Environment – This work will take place in a hybrid remote/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
  • Limited Duration – This is a limited duration position and is expected to last no longer than five months.
  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
