Product Design Engineer - AI

We are looking for a creative AI Product Engineer who sits at the intersection of product design and engineering. You will own the full product experience—from concept and interaction design through to production‑quality implementation—with a focus on novel, interactive user interfaces and AI‑driven experiences. This is a highly hands‑on role where you’ll prototype, test, and ship new interaction patterns that push the boundaries of how users engage with AI.

• Take end-to-end ownership of product experiences, from conceptual design and interaction flows to polished, production-ready implementations.
• Design and build functional prototypes (beyond static Figma mockups) to validate ideas and iterate quickly.
• Engineer and configure AI personas, creating distinct personalities and behaviors for different product use cases.
• Implement fluid, responsive, and natural real‑time AI interactions, accounting for latency, non‑determinism, and conversational nuance.
• Integrate LLM APIs and other generative AI models into user-facing features.
• Collaborate closely with research and engineering teams to define how humans interact with our AI across modalities (voice, text, etc.).
• Establish product look and feel by creating high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, and interaction patterns.
• Continuously experiment with new interaction paradigms, drawing inspiration from gaming, creative tools, and emerging AI products.

• 1+ years of experience in a product design/engineering role.
• Experience in a role that combines product design and engineering at a VC‑backed startup (preferred) or at an established tech company.
• Experience in gaming (e.g., gameplay engineer or designer) or other highly interactive products is a strong plus.

• Strong frontend engineering skills with React and/or Type Script .
• Proven ability to build functional prototypes

• Demonstrated experience crafting novel, interactive user experiences (portfolio required).
• Experience integrating LLM APIs or other generative AI models is a major plus.
• Experience building AI-driven interactions (chat, voice, agents, or similar) is highly valued.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Design, HCI, or a related field.
• Graduates from top CS programs (e.g., MIT, Berkeley) or design programs (e.g., Parsons, Pratt) are preferred for more junior candidates, but strong experience and portfolio can substitute.

• Strong product sense and interaction design intuition.
• Personable, clear communicator who can work closely with designers, engineers, and researchers.
• High creativity and comfort with ambiguity; enjoys experimenting and iterating quickly.
• Excited to work on‑site 5 days per week in Seattle and collaborate closely with the core team.
