Lead the transformation of Apple's testing and validation infrastructure  a Test Infrastructure Manager, you’ll architect and champion comprehensive developer platforms that empower thousands of engineers across Apple to author and execute validation efficiently. This is a strategic leadership opportunity to build infrastructure and tooling that enables developers to validate early, often, and with confidence—while establishing robust feedback loops from production operations and SRE to continuously improve coverage effectiveness and risk assessment.

You will excel in this role by mastering three critical domains:
Strategic Leadership, Reliability & Operational Excellence, and Developer Platforms.

Description

You will drive a mission-critical function that directly impacts engineering velocity and production reliability across Apple.

This role offers the unique opportunity to:
Define testing and validation strategy at organizational scale—determining how diverse developer communities (framework teams, domain search engineers, eval engineers, and more) author and execute validation
Build best-in-class infrastructure and tooling that removes friction from validation and enables developers to write effective tests, quickly iterate, and gain confidence in their changes
Create visibility into coverage and risk by establishing metrics, reporting, and analytics that help teams understand what’s being tested, identify coverage gaps, and assess production risk
Drive feedback loops from production through collaboration with production operations and SRE, ensuring validation infrastructure evolves based on real-world failures and enabling continuous learning
Lead cross-functional impact across internal framework teams, external domain-specific developers, eval engineers, product engineering, operations, and security
Mentor and inspire technical leaders who are passionate about enabling developers and building exceptional infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership
  • Identify and articulate infrastructure problems that impact developer productivity and production risk, building cross-functional alignment around the importance and urgency of solving them
  • Lead cross-team collaboration with internal framework teams, domain search engineers, eval engineers, product engineering, production operations, SRE, and security to understand diverse needs and ensure infrastructure evolves to meet them
  • Build shared vision and roadmaps with stakeholders that have competing priorities, driving consensus on direction, trade-offs, and sequencing
  • Champion organizational adoption of new infrastructure capabilities, practices, and tools—overcoming resistance, communicating value, and enabling to realize benefits
  • Establish feedback loops from production by working with production operations and SRE to understand real-world failures, validate that infrastructure improvements reduce production risk, and drive continuous learning and refinement
  • Mentor and develop testing and infrastructure engineers and leaders, fostering technical excellence and a shared passion for enabling developer productivity
  • Reliability & Operational Excellence
  • Define and drive technical vision for developer platforms and infrastructure that supports Apple’s product portfolio at scale, meeting the needs of diverse developer communities
  • Architect infrastructure that balances critical polarities: flexibility vs. standardization, speed vs. stability, centralized control vs. distributed autonomy—making thoughtful trade-off decisions
  • Design and implement scalable validation infrastructure spanning unit testing, integration testing, system testing, performance validation, and compliance across diverse development environments
  • Improve environment reliability by reducing flakiness, improving test infrastructure stability, and ensuring consistent, reproducible validation environments across teams
