Compensation: New hires start between $109,108 and $145,478 based on experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, internal equity, and market factors. While the full pay range is listed for this position for pay transparency, individual compensation is determined by various factors and may vary within the posted range.

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining the technology and communication systems that support the PHS computer and Hybrid network infrastructure. This role ensures the stability, security, and scalability of all IT infrastructure, including both cloud and on‑premises systems, to align with PHS’s strategic direction and mission. The Senior Systems Engineer also provides leadership on technology initiatives, collaborates with stakeholders to identify and address business needs, and ensures the delivery of high‑quality IT services to all PHS units.

PRIMARY/

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee the design, configuration, and maintenance of servers, networks, and storage systems. Maintain security and operating system versions, revisions, and updates
• Ensure optimal performance, security, and availability of Pioneer IT infrastructure and email systems, including hybrid cloud environments
• Manage on‑premises and hosted systems, hybrid configurations, and emerging technology deployments
• Support cloud virtualization platforms in Azure Landing Zone and other cloud resources to meet organizational needs
• Manage on‑premises virtualization platforms such as VMware and vSphere to support on‑premises IT operations
• Lead infrastructure projects from concept to completion, including requirement gathering, planning, and execution
• Develop and implement strategies for system upgrades, migrations, and scaling to accommodate growth
• Deploy and manage modern cloud solutions such as Azure Sentinel, Intune, Entra , and M365 to enhance operational efficiency and security. Leverage systems for threat detection and response, ensuring robust cybersecurity measures are in place
• Coach support staff and maintain runbooks and knowledge articles to improve faster first‑line resolution improvement in IT processes and practices
• Conduct audits to ensure IT systems, networks, and processes comply with organizational policies and standards
• Implement and manage Azure Landing Zones to establish a secure and scalable cloud foundation
• Monitor and maintain cloud infrastructure to ensure compliance with best practices and security standards
