We are a team dedicated to developing responsible and intelligent AI technologies that meet advertiser needs, enhance the shopping experience, and strengthen the marketplace.
If you are energized by solving complex challenges and pushing the boundaries of AI, join us to shape the future of advertising.
This role will be critical in redesigning how ads contribute to a personalized, relevant, and inspirational shopping experience, with the customer value proposition at the forefront. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Design, develop, and operate large-scale distributed systems for Sponsored Products and Brands advertising.
- Build and optimize data pipelines and services to improve ad retrieval, allocation, and recommendations.
- Apply Generative AI (GenAI) and Large Language Models (LLMs) to deliver more relevant, personalized ad and shopping experiences.
- Collaborate with applied scientists, product managers, and other engineers to define and deliver customer-focused solutions.
- Write high-quality, maintainable code and participate in design and code reviews.
- Drive operational excellence through monitoring, automation, and continuous improvement.
As a Software Development Engineer on the Sponsored Products and Brands Off-Search team, you will help build hyper-scale online systems, offline data pipelines, and machine learning infrastructure—leveraging Generative AI (GenAI) and Large Language Models (LLMs) to transform advertising and shopping experiences. You will have the opportunity to transform core areas such as ad retrieval, ad allocation, whole-page relevance, and differentiated recommendations by designing and delivering high-quality, architecturally sound systems aligned with business needs.
With the support of GenAI, you will design globally scalable solutions that evolve in the right long-term direction while delivering iterative value to customers. This is a rare opportunity to redefine how ads are retrieved, allocated, and experienced—elevating them into personalized, contextually aware, and inspiring parts of the customer journey. If you are passionate about applying frontier AI to solve real-world problems at massive scale and impact, this is your chance to define the next chapter of advertising engineering.
the team
The Off-Search team within Sponsored Products and Brands (SPB) is focused on building delightful ad experiences across surfaces beyond Search on Amazon—such as product detail pages, the homepage, and store-in-store pages—to drive monetization. Our vision is to deliver highly personalized, context-aware advertising that adapts to individual shopper preferences, scales across diverse page types, remains relevant to seasonal and event-driven moments, and integrates seamlessly with organic recommendations such as new arrivals, basket-building content, and fast-delivery options.
We work in close partnership with Stores stakeholders to lead the expansion and growth of SPB across Amazon-owned and
-operated pages beyond Search. We operate full stack—from backend ads-retail edge services, ads retrieval, and ad auctions to shopper-facing experiences—all designed to deliver meaningful value.
