Alternate Information Systems Security Manager (AISSM)/Assistant Contractor Special Security Officer (ACSSO) Special Programs

Location:

Silverdale, Washington (Travel to ARL as needed – 10‑15% of time)

Hours:

40 per week (Full‑time, Exempt)

Immediate start, Expected to continue

Purpose

Serve as the Alternate Information Systems Security Manager for Special Programs, overseeing development, authorization, and compliance of classified information systems. Assist the Contractor Special Security Officer in maintaining security standards and ensuring compliance with NISPOM, IDC, and DoD security manuals.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Special Programs ISSM with planning, oversight, and daily administration of security actions for classified systems, working directly with system sponsors and ISSMs to meet RMF requirements and maintain system authorizations.
  • Conduct self‑inspections of Continuous Monitoring compliance and verify the duties of Information System Security Officers (ISSOs). Review audit findings of Special Programs classified systems at ARL to maintain compliance with sponsor assessments and the Joint SAP Implementation Guide.
  • Prepare documents, validation, verification/testing of hardware/software change management, media protection, and file transfers. Develop and maintain Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M) documents to track security requirements and support system authorizations.
  • Manage user IS access and use compliance per applicable directives; ensure all training requirements are met for personnel using secure systems.
  • Assist the Special Programs ISSM in enforcing security standards and policies; coordinate and provide training to maintain the security posture of all information systems.
  • Perform administrative functions for the CSSO’s portfolio: conduct self‑inspections, track security administrative requirements, administer security education and record keeping.
  • Support the CSSO with document control, visitor/meeting control, security log maintenance, and file retention.
  • Support the CSSO with personnel security tasks: coordinate access requests, maintain personnel files, submit required reports, and manage access rosters.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High‑school diploma or GED.
  • Nine years of security support experience in a classified DoD, SAP, and/or SCI environment.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills; self‑motivated and able to prioritize multiple projects in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or related field.
  • More than nine years of experience providing security support in SAP and/or SCI environments.
  • Two to four years assisting a Facility Security Officer, CPSO, or CSSO.
  • Immediate eligibility for classified information at the appropriate level.
  • Knowledge of Special Access and Sensitive Compartmented Information programs and government regulations.
Salary Range

$83,000 – $124,800+ (negotiable based on qualifications)
