About our Support Analyst II position

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Information Technology, supports and enables PPGNHI employees to utilize information technology to attain high quality customer service, efficiency, and effectiveness and incorporates those functions into the overall operations of the agency.

What you will be doing!
  • Performs VMWare and VDI system maintenance on server, VMWare virtual network, and host esxi servers. This includes administration of VDI pools, virtual applications, system updates, and maintenance.
  • Primary technical support for servers and second-level escalation of other complex technical support issues. Provides technical guidance to other members of IS staff.
  • Designs, configures, monitors and optimizes local and wide area networks for optimal performance, maximum availability, minimal maintenance, and reasonable costs. This includes administration and running of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless devices including controllers and access points.
  • Configures, monitors, and maintains WSUS updates to insure network and systems integrity.
  • Assists the Senior Network Engineer to maintain and configure systems and provides backup when the Senior Network Engineer is unavailable.
  • Responsible for all computer/user/group additions if they involve changes in security; responsible for server backup and security data; specialty computer services (email, SQL server, firewall, IIS); shares in design and maintenance of the Switch/router/hub and patch panel racks; primary help desk support for server issues.
  • Assists in maintaining security of agency's information systems through implementation of virus prevention / detection / cleaning, and basic security procedures; monitors event logs and alerts consistent with IS department procedures; provides input on changes to policies / procedures in these areas.
  • Provides documentation/project tracking and management reporting. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Evaluates, recommends, and implements changes to current and future network requirements to meet the organization's needs
Key Responsibilities
  • Provides consultation and training on technology use and computer applications to PPGNHI employees and departments in the use of agency Information Technology systems.
  • Provides second level technical support and troubleshooting to employees and work groups for hardware and software.
  • Assists in the initial installation and initial and ongoing configuration of hardware and software in accordance with PPGNHI agency and IS policies and employee / workgroup needs.
  • Organizes, coordinates, and facilitates the work assignments (projects, Help Desk requests, routine maintenance, etc.) for all Tier II (server, storage, telecommunications, and networking) personnel.
  • Also responsible for planning, implementing, overseeing, and maintaining the server and network infrastructures and projects; ensures the integrity and reliable function of the organization's critical data, servers and data networks.
Minimum Qualifications

BA/BS degree in computer engineering or related field. Equivalent work experience in information technology, minimum of 5 years accepted in place of Bachelors.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years overall experience in an information technology support role is required.
  • Minimum three (3) years' work experience with the technologies mentioned throughout the above job description.
