Associate IT Project Manager

Hansell Tierney is assisting our client, a large, mission-driven healthcare organization, with a long-term consulting engagement for an Associate IT Project Manager supporting IT Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) as well as small-scale IT projects.

Compensation

Hourly rate depends on skills and experience and is estimated between $55.00 and $65.00 per hour. All experience levels encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities Project Support on Large Initiatives
  • Assist senior project and program managers in defining, scoping, and coordinating complex IT projects.
  • Participate in the development of project scope, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and deliverables.
  • Provide analytical and facilitation support across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Help identify and resolve issues, assess and manage risks, and drive timely project decisions.
  • Support project communications, reporting, and governance requirements.
Independent Ownership of Small Projects & MAC Work
  • Independently manage low-risk, low-complexity projects from initiation through close.
  • Manage MAC (Moves, Adds, Changes) work streams using the organization's standard Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC).
  • Track progress, maintain schedules, escalate risks, and coordinate internal technical resources.
  • Facilitate decision-making, manage budgets, and prepare status reporting for leadership and stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as the single point of contact for IT activities across assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with facilities, space planning, workplace services, and other operational teams involved in MAC activities.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and application owners to ensure IT deliverables align with business objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with Portfolio Management to ensure use of standard PM tools, templates, and reporting processes.
IT Execution & Governance
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, task plans, milestones, and resource assignments.
  • Manage issues, risks, dependencies, and project budgets across all IT-related work.
  • Track and ensure proper procurement, implementation, and delivery of IT infrastructure components.
  • Help improve and support the organization's PMLC methodology and defined tools.
  • Maintain accurate project status updates, including inputs to weekly health checks.
Process Improvement & Documentation
  • When appropriate, apply business process improvement methods (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Identify opportunities to streamline IT work through standardized templates, checklists, and processes.
  • Produce clear written documentation consumable by varied stakeholders (vendors, partners, internal teams, etc.).
Security & Compliance
  • Follow all client policies governing secure access to systems and data.
  • Operate within controlled environments for any work involving sensitive or regulated data.
  • Complete required compliance training (provided by client).
Primary Project Types
  • IT Moves, Adds, Changes (MACs)
  • Small standalone IT projects
  • Additional projects as assigned
Key

Qualifications & Skills
  • 3-5+ years of experience in IT project coordination or project management.
  • Experience managing MACs, workplace/technology deployments, facilities-related IT work, or similar highly-coordinated efforts.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Experience working across multiple IT teams (infrastructure, applications, networking, operations, etc.).
  • Ability to manage small projects independently while supporting senior PMs on larger efforts.
  • Familiarity with structured project management methodologies (PMLC, PMBOK, etc.).
  • Ability to track budgets, schedules, risks, issues, and decisions with high accuracy.
  • Experience in healthcare or regulated environments is a plus (but not required).
