Join the Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW) as an IT System Administrator – Journey, where your technical expertise will directly support the Washington State Department of Corrections’ mission to improve public safety by positively changing lives.
In this role, you’ll deliver exceptional IT customer service across multiple divisions, while identifying, designing, and implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency and performance. You’ll manage and support a variety of complex networks, including the Incarcerated Individual Services Network, Off-State Network (OSNC/OSNE/OSNL/OSNS), Health Services Network (HSN), and Security Electronics Network (SEN).
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to manage large-scale IT projects across major facilities and field sites. You’ll partner with DOC staff, vendors, and incarcerated individuals to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient technology services statewide.

As an IT System Administration – Journey, some of your duties will include:
- Providing technical professional level support for Information Technology (IT) Systems (servers, building automation systems, PBX and networks for staff and incarcerated individuals) including:
- Making recommendations on strategic direction of customer services, by adapting to changing technologies
- Managing and administrating the PBX phone and Avaya Aura Messaging Systems (AAMS)
- Managing deployment, management and maintenance of highly complex technology systems
- Managing server availability, troubleshooting and resolving server errors, including connectivity, hardware and software; installs server fixes, updates, and enhancements
- Developing and planning the configuration of server backup systems, managing storage, retention of backup media, verification of data recovery and system recovery procedures
- Providing technical professional level customer support to staff, vendors and incarcerated individuals for IT systems, equipment, and phones, including:
- Ensuring daily IT operations function and solving operational problems on large-scale, high-risk systems
- Managing quality, accountability, productivity, and timely delivery of technology services
- Ensuring security protocols are followed per DOC policies; collaborating with IT Security on actions for system breaches
- Making recommendations on strategic direction of customer services by adapting to changing technologies
- Providing full participation and constructive feedback for local, regional, and statewide IT projects
- Adapting to changing business needs to achieve successful solutions within project scope
- Ensuring functionality, connectivity and availability of local area switches and data/phone infrastructure
- Deploying and providing technical support for telephones, mobile phones, and other mobile connectivity hardware
- Serving as an IT liaison with business units resolving operational issues and disseminating information
What we need (required qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent
AND
- Four (4) years of IT related training and experience
AND
- Four (4) years of Information Technology experience in an enterprise environment
or
- Two (2) years in an IT System Administration – Entry…
