Purpose And Position Summary

The Director of IT leads the strategic and operational functions of Information Technology (IT) Department. This role oversees software application development, network operations, cybersecurity, training, and desktop support, while serving as a technology advisor to all departments. The Director is responsible for aligning IT initiatives with organizational goals, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and user‑centered technology solutions.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director contributes to organization‑wide strategy and decision‑making.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Departmental Leadership: model progressive, agile leadership; supervise and mentor IT staff; monitor projects and ensure alignment with goals; promote a collaborative culture.
  • IT Operational Processes: monitor organizational IT needs; oversee vendor performance; stay current on emerging technologies; evaluate AI technologies; lead cybersecurity strategy; develop IT documentation.
  • Organizational Leadership: develop and execute a strategic technology roadmap; manage annual IT goals; collaborate with leadership; lead change management.
  • IT Project Management and Supervision: lead and manage IT projects including scope, schedule, budget; coordinate cross‑functional teams; support teams; monitor adoption and effectiveness using data‑driven metrics.
  • Budget Management: develop and manage the IT budget (~$2.5M); oversee vendor contracts; implement technology standards and training.
  • Cybersecurity and Business Continuity: establish proactive cybersecurity roadmap; partner with stakeholders; update BCP; evaluate new technology solutions; other duties as assigned.
  • Other duties: provide guidance to Board of Governors on IT matters.
Education Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an IT‑related field (Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Engineering) or related field; or combination of education and relevant experience.
Education Preferred
  • Master of Science in Business Administration or Public Administration or related field.
Experience Required
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience and demonstrated success in IT leadership, including strategic planning, project management, managing information systems and teams, and contract negotiation.
  • Experience managing complex vendor relationships.
  • Experience developing and implementing cybersecurity strategies.
  • Experience in AI strategy and technology with operational context.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, coaching staff and performance evaluations.
Experience Preferred
  • Prior non‑profit or government experience, particularly working with a board or volunteers in an association environment.
  • Experience creating and executing long‑term IT roadmaps aligned with organizational goals.
  • Track record of staying current with evolving technology trends, cloud computing, AI, etc.
  • Experience evaluating emerging tools and translating into scalable solutions.
  • Experience leading technology transitions and change management.
  • Experience with vendor contract negotiation, performance oversight.
  • Experience in environments with managed service providers and external partners.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, incident response, and compliance.
  • Experience leading cross‑functional efforts to implement and secure enterprise systems.
