Position Overview
Addison Group is seeking a detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to support classified staff operations within an education environment. This role will focus heavily on payroll auditing, salary placement, employee data management, and ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements and payroll deadlines. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, experience working in union environments, and the ability to manage multiple HR processes with accuracy and discretion.
Key Responsibilities- Review employee history and provide audit support to ensure accurate personnel and payroll records.
- Perform salary placements for newly hired classified staff and ensure timely completion of all new hire documentation.
- Enter and maintain classified staff data within ctcLink.
- Calculate classified staff compensation including regular earnings, overtime, additional hours, step increases, and periodic increments.
- Maintain the classified control list according to payroll deadlines, ensuring all compensation changes are accurately processed.
- Create and route Personnel Action (PA) forms to meet payroll processing timelines.
- Review and confirm periodic increments for payroll processing.
- Provide notification of position changes to impacted employees and supervisors, copying union representatives as required.
- Monitor probationary periods and support supervisors with extension processes, including formal employee notification.
- Provide guidance regarding classified staff collective bargaining agreement topics within established precedent.
- Review, process, and enter non-permanent employee (NPE) Personnel Actions, monitor employment end dates, and communicate updates accordingly.
- Review and assign classifications for NPE and student/hourly positions in alignment with OFM allocation processes.
- 2–3+ years of experience in a Human Resources role.
- Strong payroll experience including salary placements, calculating raises, step increases, anniversary increases, and payroll auditing.
- Experience working in a unionized environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic), Word, and other MS Office Suite products.
- High attention to detail and ability to meet strict payroll deadlines.
