Hours of work: Standard Monday–Friday workweek, 8am–5pm. Occasional need for weekend or after-hours work as related to events and other projects. This is a hybrid position, working 3 days onsite each week.

Position description:

The Seattle Aquarium is seeking a recruiter who is inspired by the idea of leading diverse, equitable, accessible, and creative hiring, engagement, and recruitment practices to help us shape how our teams can inspire marine conservation. With the Aquarium’s recent opening of the new Ocean Pavilion, the People and Culture department is spearheading the work of creating a fair, equitable and inclusive work environment.

Designing and stewarding a culture that would allow everyone to thrive and grow. We are seeking a proactive and savvy recruiter who would drive innovation and impact of our hiring processes.

The Recruitment Coordinator will play a central role in sourcing, connecting with, and screening new applicants and applicant pathways. Reporting to the Senior People and Culture Business partner, and working with hiring managers, the entire People and Culture team, and other programs, fostering a diverse set of relationships with internal and external stakeholders alike. They are expected to streamline and improve existing processes and be a change agent within the Aquarium.

Candidates passionate about marine conservation and education, as well as fair and inclusive workplace culture, will be an asset in this role.

Key functions:

The Recruitment Coordinator will play a central role in sourcing, connecting with, and screening new applicants. Reporting to the Senior People and Culture business partner, and working with hiring managers and a variety of internal partners, the recruiter will foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders alike. They are expected to streamline and improve existing processes and be a change agent within the Aquarium.
Core duties include but are not limited to:

  • Outreach and Relationships : create and sustain a network of diverse hiring sources, including (but not limited to) websites, professional associations, academic institutions, community groups, partner organizations and more.
  • Recruitment and Posting:
    Oversee positions posted by the Aquarium for accuracy, compliance with legal requirements, inclusive language, and consistency with equity centered practices and employer brand. Work with business partners, hiring managers, and other stakeholders to guarantee the high quality of our postings.
  • Screening and Training: Codevelop, train managers, and implement inclusive screening methods, that would help diversify the Aquarium’s workforce. Act as the point of contact for candidates throughout their application process. Schedule and conduct phone/ video screening as needed and participate in interview panels.
  • Recruiting and onboarding: Support the People and Culture team in finalizing recruitment processes and onboarding the new employees. Handle the administrative aspect of onboarding and work with the hiring team to ensure that new employees feel welcome and informed.
  • Communication: Responsible for scheduling, calendaring and ongoing communication with candidates, maintaining accurate records, connecting with other internal teams. This might include in-person, phone, video or group communications.
  • Collaboration and celebration:
    Codesign. lead, facilitate, and participate in cultural and social events, community building initiatives, programs, meetings, and activities.
