Payroll Clerk

Payroll Clerk (8-Month Contract, Hybrid - Seattle, WA)

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to support day-to-day payroll operations for an organization based in Seattle. This hybrid, 8-month contract role will assist with payroll processing, data entry, timesheet reviews, and employee inquiries. The ideal candidate is highly organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable working with confidential employee information.

• $26-$34 per hour

• Assist with bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll processing
• Review and verify employee timesheets for accuracy and completeness
• Enter payroll data including hours worked, PTO, deductions, and adjustments
• Support payroll audits by maintaining accurate payroll records and documentation
• Respond to basic employee payroll questions and escalate issues as needed
• Assist with new hire setup and employee changes in the payroll system
• Ensure payroll data aligns with company policies and compliance requirements
• Support payroll tax filings and reporting as directed
• Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll and personal information

• High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in accounting or finance a plus
• 1-3 years of payroll, accounting, or administrative experience
• Familiarity with payroll systems (ADP, Paychex, UKG, Workday, or similar preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Basic Excel skills and comfort working with spreadsheets
• Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Experience supporting multi-state payroll
• Prior contract or temporary accounting experience
• Exposure to payroll compliance or wage and hour regulations
