Payroll Specialist

Description We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team in Shoreline, Washington. In this contract position, you will play a critical role in processing payroll for a mid-sized workforce, ensuring accuracy and compliance with union, government, and tax regulations. This opportunity is ideal for professionals seeking a contract role, with the position expected to run until March.

Responsibilities:

- Process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 200 employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

- Handle payroll adjustments, including special pays such as call-back pay and standby pay.

- Verify payroll calculations and review work thoroughly before disbursement.

- Collaborate with HR to manage garnishments and ensure proper processing.

- Ensure compliance with union agreements and tax regulations.

- Utilize Central Square software and Excel for payroll operations and reporting.

- Address and resolve payroll discrepancies or inquiries efficiently.

- Maintain organized records and documentation related to payroll processes.

- Support the team by providing expertise in government and union payroll practices.

- Work both independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines and maintain payroll integrity. Requirements - Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in full-cycle payroll processing.

- Strong knowledge of union payroll practices and special pay structures.

- Familiarity with government payroll procedures and compliance.

- Proficiency in Central Square software and intermediate Excel skills.

- Ability to double-check and verify work to ensure accuracy.

- Experience processing payroll for medium to large teams.

- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
