Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Infection Control Prevention Program Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating effective infection prevention and control programs across the organization.
Every day you will conduct surveillance for healthcare-associated infections, analyze data to identify trends, and design evidence-based interventions to prevent their spread. This includes educating staff, consulting on infectious disease issues, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate expert knowledge of infectious diseases, epidemiology, and public health principles, coupled with strong analytical skills and excellent communication abilities to influence positive changes in clinical practice and safeguard patient and staff well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the assigned site- or function-based Infection Control and Prevention Program to ensure all activities are conducted/documented in a timely manner and in accordance with approved business plan, professional standards and applicable regulatory requirements; facilitate implementation, support and ongoing optimization of the program; promote and champion the program to others in the organization.
- Utilize electronic tools and established protocols to conduct daily surveillance, and/or perform epidemiologic investigations related to hospital-acquired infections, epidemiologically-significant organisms and/or related infection control/prevention concerns; collect, compile and review/analyze surveillance data to promote safe and quality care to patients, healthcare workers and visitors through prevention and control of infections; investigate outbreaks/issues and report findings per established procedures.
- Research, develop and evaluate comprehensive annual risk assessments customized for the assigned facility/function to identify specific goals for reducing/controlling the risk of healthcare-associated infections for all patients, employees and visitors based on clinical needs and patient/employee demographics.
- Plan and conduct quarterly environmental surveillance rounds of assigned work sites to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards related to infection control/prevention; complete and score quantitative assessment tools to identify/quantify risk and/or non-compliance concerns and facilitate focus of infection prevention efforts on highest risk areas.
- Participate in the development/implementation of VMFH Infection Prevention/Control policies, standards and procedures for the Pacific Northwest Division; review and make recommendations for appropriate changes to existing initiatives, programs and/or protocols.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, Medical Technology program, or other healthcare related field and five years of recent related healthcare work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and five years of recent related work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.
- Master’s degree in a related discipline may be substituted for two years of the experience requirement.

Current licensure by the Washington State Nursing Commission, OR - National Registration as an MLS (ASCP)
- Certification with the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist
- Certification in Infection Control (CBIC)
- Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRST)
- Certified Board of Infection Control
