The Talbot Lab (Basic Sciences Division) is seeking a reliable, organized, and detail-oriented individual to support ongoing, exciting research on neuro‑immunology, gut microbiota, and infectious diseases. This is ideal for an individual interested in an entry‑level introduction to a research lab environment, particularly those with an interest in the management and husbandry of mouse colonies. This position is well‑suited for individuals interested in a steady part‑time role with flexible hours.

The candidate must be able to work 12 hours per week on three different days, with a maximum of 12 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Under close supervision of members of the lab, the person in this position will:

  • Assist with regular maintenance of our mouse colony, which consists of an animal biopsy, breeding, and weaning.
  • Maintain electronic spreadsheet for the mouse colony.
  • General lab cleaning and organization.
  • Assisting lab members with experiments.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Other Expectations

Work collaboratively within the Talbot Lab and with Hutch and external collaborators.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent; OR,
  • High school senior with lab-based experience or demonstrated interest in the sciences
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of college-level coursework in biology.
  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree.
  • Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
  • Basic computer skills and a willingness to learn new software systems.
  • Familiarity with Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to learn new tools and content quickly and independently.
  • Strong communication skills.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.76 to $30.13 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship at this time.
