Job Overview
Advanced Practice Provider – ARNP or PA-C at Harborview Medical Center – Neuro Critical Care.
Work Schedule90% FTE, Night shift, Some days, Weekends, and Holidays. No call.
Position HighlightsAPP under supervision of NCCS attending staff (Anesthesia, Neurology, Pulmonary/Critical Care physicians).
Department DescriptionNeuro Critical Care cares for patients with Subarachnoid Hemorrhage, Intracranial Hemorrhage, Acute Ischemic Stroke, Seizure and Status Epilepticus, Isolated Traumatic Brain Injuries, Neuromuscular disorders, Brain Tumors, CNS infections, hypoxemic-ischemic encephalopathy, Spinal Cord Injury, and post‑operative spine patients.
Primary ResponsibilitiesPerform patient care: admit new patients, participate in daily rounds, evaluate and manage ICU patients, write daily progress notes, formulate and implement plans.
Collaborate with acute care services (ortho spine, neurosurgery, neurology) to sign out patients leaving the unit.
Use ICU Checklist on morning rounds for each patient to ensure proper care and communication with nursing staff.
Facilitate family meetings and participate in goal‑of‑care discussions as appropriate.
Perform procedures:
Central Venous Catheters, Arterial Lines, Bronchoscopy, Lumbar Punctures, Point of Care Ultrasound.
Quality Improvement and Research: QI meetings and ongoing QI projects.
Requirements- If ARNP: Master’s or Doctorate in nursing from an accredited school, Washington State ARNP license with prescriptive privileges, national certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
- If PA‑C: Physician Assistant licensure in Washington, national certification (NCCPA).
- ACLS certification.
- Eligible to receive hospital staff appointments as adjunct staff under Medical Staff By‑Laws.
Pay Range Minimum: $131,316 annual. Pay Range Maximum: $205,548 annual.
