Pharmacy Technician – Full Time – Permanent
Join our team as a Pharmacy Technician and help fulfill the pharmacy service needs of our residents at our four-state Veterans Homes. In this role you will work at the Washington Veterans Home in Port Orchard and support efficient, cost-effective medication delivery by preparing prescriptions, managing inventory, and ensuring accurate documentation in alignment with agency policies.

The expected work hours are 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

This position is eligible for Supplement Basic Shift Premium for 24/7 Facilities. Employees assigned to a facility that provides direct care receive an additional 1.00 per hour of supplemental basic shift premium for each hour of basic shift premium. The premium expires on June 29, 2027.
- Ensure the pharmacy has supplies and inventory required to function.
- Contact vendors, place orders, verify supplies, and confirm expected delivery times.
- Communicate with pharmacy staff when items are unavailable and provide alternative options.
- Complete invoice requirements.
- Assist with preparing A19 purchase request forms.
- Sort and prepare completed resident medications for shipping to four facilities.
- Create manifests for prescriptions/floor stock items and verify items in shipment.
- Package shipment of resident medications and facility floor stock items.
- Create shipping labels and coordinate with shipping vendors.
- File and verify return of signed manifests from all four facilities and communicate with nursing staff as needed.
- Pack medications in modified unit dose carts and other resident prescriptions.
- Pack e-kit items for Electronic Medication Cabinet and assist with maintaining EMC inventories.
- Additional related duties as required.
- Current, valid Washington State pharmacy technician license.
- Proficient in the English language and able to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow technical oral and written instructions, handle interruptions, and prioritize workload.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Word, Outlook, and other Microsoft applications.
- Must pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check every two years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000 Background Checks.
- Must comply with annual Tuberculin Screening per DVA Policy 670.000 Tuberculosis Testing.
- Must undergo medical evaluation, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by Washington Industrial Safety and the Act standards (e.g., respirator, medical gloves, gowns, eye protection).
- Must lift up to 40 lbs. and reach a minimum of 36 inches using proper technique; able to push or pull with sufficient strength and walk, sit, and bend unrestricted during the entire workday.
- Must maintain a valid Washington State pharmacy technician license and complete required continuing education.
- Must maintain regular and reliable attendance and be willing to work as needed.
- Must successfully complete orientation and all mandatory training within specified time frames.
- Must become familiar with and comply with all DVA policies, procedures, and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Must sign the confidentiality statement for all employees.
- Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and comply with state business driving requirements.
