PHYSICAL THERAPIST – Inpatient
WORK SCHEDULE

  • 100% FTE; 40 hours per week
  • Day Shift
  • 4 x 10 hour shifts Wednesday to Saturday alternating every other week Tuesday to Friday

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Plans and Evaluates Care, includes but is not limited to:

  • Reviews physician’s referral and patient’s medical record, reviews diagnosis, and determines therapy treatment required.
  • Evaluates and monitors patient’s progression and makes appropriate adjustments to treatment plan to achieve maximum benefit.
Provides, Progresses, and Documents Care, includes but is not limited to:
  • Prior to therapy intervention, performs and documents an initial exam and evaluates data and diagnosis to identify problems.
  • Administers position and exercises, massage, and other treatments (including use of special equipment) to relieve pain, increase flexibility and strength, and/or decrease patient’s disability.
  • Performs wound care and wound debriment, per physician order, if certified to do so.
  • Follows established procedures and observes all safety precautions in the application and the use of heat, cold, light, water, sound, message, debriment, and electrical stimulation.
  • Meets departmental standards for quality, customer service, and productivity.
  • Records patient’s treatment, progress, and response in patient’s chart/computer record.
  • Submits charge tickets to reflect time spent with patients seen each day.
  • Participates in assisting other areas of the department if needed, including clerical and reception activities.
Provides for Continuing Care, includes but is not limited to:
  • Trains patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living.
  • When appropriate, establishes a home program to encourage patient involvement and independence.
  • Trains patient and family members in home treatment procedures.
  • Discharges patient from therapy when goals or projected outcomes have been attained; provides for appropriate follow-up care or referrals.
Communication and Collaboration, includes but is not limited to:
  • Confers with patients, medical practitioners and appropriate others to plan, implement, and assess the treatment program.
  • Observes and reports patient’s responses to the referring medical practitioner by progress notes, letters and verbal communication.
  • Attends appropriate conferences and/or meetings pertaining to assigned patient.
Training and Leadership, includes but is not limited to:
  • Trains and orients new employees and volunteers.
  • Supervises PT Assistants, PT Aides, and Volunteers.
  • Advises PT Assistant on treatment plan for assigned patients.
  • Supervises and trains assigned students and evaluates their performance.
  • Develops and presents in-service education classes as assigned.
  • Assists with organizational planning, and actively participates in the development and implementation of new programs, departmental performance improvement projects, community awareness programs, and projects that ensure the department remains compliant with all regulatory requirements.
Equipment and Supplies, includes but is not limited to:
  • Evaluates and cares for braces, prosthesis, other active assistive devices and durable medical equipment.
  • Complies with procedures for maintenance of departmental supplies and equipment.
  • Assists in acquisition of durable medical equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized school of physical therapy, or completion of a Physical Therapy program and one year relevant experience.
  • Current Washington State license to practice as a Physical Therapist.
