Job SummaryProvide CT and diagnostic X‑ray imaging services to patients in accordance with physicians' orders. Ensure patient safety and provide high‑quality testing. Prepare rooms and diagnostic/CT equipment, perform testing, operate equipment according to prescribed safety standards, process images, and uphold medical ethics in the performance of diagnostic services. Apply knowledge of growth and development principles to identify patient and family requirements relative to age‑specific patients, including geriatrics, adults, adolescents, and pediatrics.
Maintain strict patient and staff confidentiality, adhere to appropriate sterile techniques, and may require heavy lifting.
- Diagnostic Testing:
Perform quality images through protocols and positions to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patients' comfort and ability. Demonstrate knowledge to perform cross‑section imaging, produce images in accordance with proper radiographic techniques, evaluate images for technical quality, and ensure proper identification is recorded. Provide patient education on procedures according to age‑specific needs, facilitate patients' cooperation, alleviate anxiety by addressing concerns, verify appropriate procedure to be performed by checking physicians' orders and outpatient prescriptions, contact physicians with discrepancies, understand contrast agents for proper organ studies and prepare desired contrast media, ensure appropriate documentation prior to procedure, and assist with procedures as needed. - Customer Service:
Deliver timely, responsive, expert services to patients, physicians, and employees in a positive friendly manner. Inform consumers and accompanying persons of delays and how they are being addressed. Promote patient‑focused care throughout daily activities, provide quality patient care, including preparation, scheduling, description of exam, communication of pain expectation, post‑procedure expectation, and teaching of all types of patient procedures. Maintain strict patient and employee confidentiality and communicate to the patient when they will receive results. - Patient and Employee Safety:
Maintain safe radiation levels at all times to minimize exposure. Perform all necessary equipment checks prior to use. Ensure patient and regulatory standards are adhered to and suggest ways to improve patient outcomes when indicated. Complete quality assurance, quality control, and radiation safety activities as appropriate. Establish patient identification with patient and by checking patient armband. Observe patient during procedures and report any unusual occurrences or changes in patients' condition to appropriate personnel.
Ascertain allergy status on patients, demonstrate compliance in IV access, and follow departmental IV protocol. Respond to contrast reactions as outlined in Policy and Procedure Manual. - General Behavior:
Arrive at the start of the assigned shift ready to begin work; take lunch and breaks at appropriate times, and leave work at the end of the assigned shift. Maintain a neat, clean, and well‑stocked room. Identify staff training issues and participate in policy and procedure development as appropriate. Communicate concerns to lead technologists and management. Work as an effective team member with colleagues.
Rotate shifts and assignments as required and respond to stand‑by calls per Call Policy. Adhere to cooperative‑wide PPE, universal precautions, medical waste, infection control, safety, and other OSHA policies and procedures. - Information System:
Enter patient information accurately into the departmental computer system, selecting the current account and completing patients for the appropriate procedure, as directed in Radiology Information System (RIS).
Basic Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Graduated from an accredited radiologic technology program.
- Certified Radiologic Technologist (Washington)
- Basic Life Support
- Communication, problem‑solving, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- One (1) year experience in a hospital setting.
- One (1) year of direct cross‑sectional anatomy experience.
- One (1) year of recent direct experience in diagnostic X‑ray procedures.
