Environmental Health & Safety Technician I - 245303
Location:
Seattle, WA (98109)
Pay: $20-$30/hour
This Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Technician will support health and safety programs by maintaining essential safety equipment and supplies, managing waste processes, and assisting in laboratory safety operations. This role ensures compliance with established safety protocols and contributes to a safe research environment.
Essential Functions- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maintain safety equipment and processes in a fast-paced research environment
- Monitor and restock supplies and equipment as needed
- Conduct recurring water and fire safety testing and monitoring
- Maintain accurate documentation, filing, and recordkeeping
- Create, review, and update written work instructions
- Communicate effectively with team members and scientists
- Establish schedules and routines to complete time-sensitive tasks
- Perform other related duties as assigned

RequiredEducation and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- RCRA training (32- or 40-hour) and DOT training (8-hour)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
- Experience creating detailed step-by-step work instructions
Education and Experience
- 0–2 years of experience in occupational/environmental health or related fields
- 0–2 years of experience on an EHS or similar team
- Certificate(s) in occupational health and safety (e.g., COSS)
- Demonstrated commitment to employee safety and health
- Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills
- Familiarity with SharePoint software
- Aptitude and willingness to learn new computer software applications
- May enter laboratory spaces with potential exposure to lasers, biohazards, and chemicals
- May access warehouse and data center environments
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection, may be required
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Ability to occasionally lift or push/pull up to 50 pounds
- Fine motor movements required for operating computers, office equipment, and laboratory equipment
- Ability to stoop, bend, crouch, reach, and climb ladders
- Temporary position, 4 months
