This is an INTERNAL recruitment, open to current, permanent WA State Department of Corrections employees only.

Our agency is looking to INTERNALLY fill a full-time, permanent Community Corrections Officer 3 (CCO3) vacancy within the Community Corrections Division.
This position works for the Pierce County Special Assault Unit (SAU) South located at 10109 South Tacoma Way, Lakewood, WA 98499. This non-permanent appointment is expected to last about six months.

The North and South Pierce County SAUs supervise Level 1, 2, and 3 sex offenders who are currently under supervision for a sex offense. In addition, the units will supervise those individuals convicted of kidnapping if they are required to register with the Sheriff.

CCO3s work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to the agency's mission by improving public safety. As a lead CCO, this position provides training and coaching to other CCOs. Shift hours: , Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities (selected)
  • Supervision of registrable sexual offenders under court/agency supervision in the community within prescribed time frames.
  • Engage with supervised individuals to work toward positive change.
  • Enforce supervision conditions and the law.
  • Conduct sex offender investigations.
  • Act as the Community Corrections Supervisor (CCS)/designee when authorized.
  • Other duties as assigned or necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Armed staff must have the ability to carry and properly utilize a department-issued firearm.

    Note:

    Staff who do not qualify for legacy status under arming provisions are required to be armed and must be willing and able to possess and use a firearm under federal and state law; maintain firearm qualifications; and complete ongoing training.
  • Must possess and maintain an unrestricted vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Washington.
  • Must have the willingness and ability to work with individuals with criminal backgrounds and anti-social behaviors; review graphic materials; and remain objective when dealing with individuals under supervision.
