Dhaka Technologies Limited is seeking experienced Dispatchers to support a District of Columbia Government client within a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) / Emergency Communications Center (ECC).
This role is responsible for coordinating and dispatching emergency and non-emergency police, fire, and EMS responses. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong radio communication skills, situational awareness, and the ability to maintain operational control in high-pressure public safety environments.
Key Responsibilities- Dispatch emergency and non-emergency police, fire, and EMS calls using established dispatch formats and response plans.
- Coordinate and monitor field unit responses to ensure timely and appropriate service delivery.
- Operate primary and secondary radio channels in accordance with established communication protocols.
- Maintain control of assigned radio channels at all times and operate backup systems during primary system outages.
- Practice proper radio communication techniques and issue notifications as required.
- Accurately document all events and incident details in the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Assess situations to determine the type and level of emergency response required.
- Relay critical information clearly and accurately to responding units.
- Update and reclassify incidents based on new or evolving information.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience as a released Emergency Communications Officer in a multi-discipline public safety PSAP environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in high-volume, high-stress situations.
- Typing speed of at least 25 words per minute.
- Strong computer proficiency and familiarity with CAD and dispatch systems.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm and decisive during emergency situations.
- Ability to follow established policies, procedures, and operational protocols.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Flexibility to work assigned shifts as required by the jurisdiction.
Experience in at least two (2) of the following disciplines is preferred:
- Call Taking
- Law Enforcement Radio Operations
All contract personnel must comply with applicable District of Columbia government policies and procedures, including human resources and progressive discipline standards. Work is performed onsite at the designated DC government facility.
