Salary:
Monthly range $5,610.00 – $7,540.00 (depends on qualifications). Minimum Step G ($5,338.00/monthly) for CCO1 placement. See salary steps A–M for details.
- Conduct independent Pre‑Sentence Investigations (PSI) as ordered by Snohomish County Superior Court.
- Produce PSI reports, risk assessments, and Mental Health Sentence Alternative reports.
- Work collaboratively with DOC facilities and field stakeholders to gather current offense, criminal history, social, medical/mental health, and incarceration/supervision data.
- Maintain hard‑copy files and submit for archiving per local practice.
- Present PSI reports in court, testify as requested, and provide completed reports to sentencing courts, prosecution, and defense within policy time frames.
- Engage with supervised individuals (S/Is) using communication strategies such as Motivational Interviewing and Principles of Effective Interventions.
- Enforce supervision conditions, prepare accurate written documentation, and make appropriate sanction recommendations.
- Identify, collect, document, process, and maintain evidence and information with proper chain of custody.
- Exercise sound judgment and follow DOC policies, procedures, and protocols regarding firearm handling and safety.
- Other duties as assigned by DOC and court requirements.
Required Qualifications – CCO2
- Ability to carry and properly utilize a DOC‑issued firearm.
- Unrestricted, valid Washington State vehicle operator’s license.
- Willingness and ability to work with individuals with criminal backgrounds and anti‑social behaviors; remain objective when dealing with supervised individuals.
- College‑level coursework or professional work experience in at least three of the following:
- Field visits and case assessments.
- Written correspondence, reports, and documentation.
- Case recommendations and court presentations.
- Risk factor assessments and treatment plan facilitation.
- Resource referrals (e.g., chemical dependency, substance abuse, family counseling).
- Record maintenance and compliance tracking.
- Computer data entry and reporting.
- Managing competing caseload priorities.
- Community resource identification and client communication.
- Independent work and collaboration with stakeholders.
- One of the following education/experience combinations:
- One year experience as a DOC CCO.
- Associate or technical degree + three years professional experience.
- Bachelor’s degree + one year professional experience.
- Equivalent combination totaling five years.
- Felony disclosure form and criminal background check.
- Psychological screening (Battery Exam and Psychological Interview/Evaluation).
- Drug testing per Collective Bargaining Agreement and agency policy.
- Complete orientation, mandatory annual training, and in‑service training.
- Compliance with all DOC policies and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Firearms Academy and Control/Impedance Tactics (CIT) training and ongoing qualifications.
