Juvenile Detention Officer - Temporary

Base pay range$28.85/hr - $28.85/hr
ResponsibilitiesDetention Officers provide custodial supervision, screening, booking, and care for juvenile offenders detained by the Pierce County Juvenile Court. They ensure the welfare, safety, and security of residents, maintain cleanliness, feeding, health, and safety, defuse and correct behavior, and intervene in self‑destructive behavior. The role requires trauma‑informed, de‑escalation techniques, and a safety‑first approach.
Qualifications- Two years of post‑high school education in social sciences, corrections, or related field; or two years of experience guiding, disciplining, and supervising delinquent juveniles.
- A valid Washington State driver’s license is required.
- Successful completion of pre‑employment screening, polygraph, background, and CPR within 60 days of hire.
- Completion of PPD tuberculin skin test within 15 days of hire.
