This recruitment will be used to fill Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) position. The TLT is anticipated to end on August 28, 2026, with the possibility of extension.
King County District Court ProfileKCDC is the largest and most technologically advanced Court of Limited Jurisdiction in the State of Washington. It processes approximately 200,000 matters per year with 25 elected judges and roughly 260 employees at 8 courthouse locations. The Court is a leader in public safety and access to justice, including the use of problem-solving courts, jail-alternative programs, technology- and judge-managed probation services.
Thirteen cities contract with King County for court services provided by KCDC.
A Competitive Fiscal Specialist Clerk Candidate
King County District Court (KCDC) is seeking a Fiscal Specialist Clerk. We are looking for someone who is customer service focused, an active learner, adaptive, reliable, a critical thinker, and action-oriented. Fiscal Specialist Court Clerks provide technical, financial, and/or fiscal support services. Duties also include cashiering and/or fiscal information, calculating accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Fiscal Specialist Clerks must provide outstanding customer service during stressful situations, have impeccable attention to detail, thrive in a team environment with superb problem-solving skills, and be comfortable interacting with executive-level management and members of the public via telephone or email on a daily basis. We need Fiscal Specialist Clerks to be committed to continuous learning, open to change with a positive attitude, and able to succeed in a fast-paced and culturally diverse environment.
Candidates fluent in one or more of the following languages are encouraged to apply:

- Provide specialized and/or technical information that requires moderate interpretation of established policies, procedures, and guidelines to internal and/or external customers. Some incumbents may have to deal with sensitive and/or potentially volatile situations.
- Perform basic numerical calculations involving accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashiering, reconciliation of accounts, monitoring of routine expenditures, and/or other applications.
- Perform basic data entry and auditing of financial, accounting and/or fiscal information.
- Establish, maintain, modify, retrieve, and track financial, accounting and/or fiscal information using a variety of methods.
- Enter, obtain and/or verify financial, accounting and/or fiscal information following established defined methods and guidelines.
- Provide technical assistance to customers regarding codes, policies, regulations, and laws.
- Complete customer call processing related to payment center activities, including answering phones, researching and solving customer inquiries, and identifying obstacles for callers to ensure they receive all needed information.
- Compile data that may require information searches through files, contracts, records, or computer files, including spreadsheets and/or customized database applications.
- Compose, draft, type and/or word process, proofread and edit documents and/or correspondence.
- Process mailings and documents that may require attaching related correspondence or information; identify priority and/or time-sensitive matters; maintain security and confidentiality.
- Review and follow desk procedures, suggesting revisions when needed, to ensure accuracy.
- Experience providing excellent customer service in person, electronic, and via telephone while demonstrating discretion, patience, etiquette, and professionalism.
- Experience with cash handling, balancing, and till closing procedures.
- Knowledge of basic accounting and mathematics.
- Ability to learn and use specialized terminology relevant to the position.
- Ability to take initiative and adapt to changes in workload demand as needed.
- Experience using software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Experience demonstrating attention to detail and staying on task.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external customers.
- Experience demonstrating organizational skills.
- Experience conducting research as well as problem solving.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters.
