Join our team as we build and optimize inventory management solutions that secure our supply chain while maximizing capital efficiency and reducing unit costs. In this strategic role, you will lead financial planning for long-lead assets in AWS's data center expansion finance team.
Your expertise in people management, inventory optimization, and unit cost analysis will drive critical decision-making in AWS Data Center construction. You'll partner with cross-functional teams to develop financial strategies that enable AWS to maintain its position as the lowest-cost provider in the industry while ensuring operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end capital expenditure planning for data center equipment, developing strategic financial roadmaps that balance supply chain security with capital efficiency and unit cost reduction.
• Build and manage a high-performing team that drives financial excellence in inventory management, creating mechanisms to identify barriers and developing scalable solutions for process improvement.
• Partner with procurement team to negotiate long-term contracts, leveraging financial analysis to secure advantageous terms while maintaining quality standards.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators for LLE costs, implementing data-driven mechanisms to continuously improve financial outcomes and reduce the cost to construct.
• Drive strategic financial initiatives that support AWS’s data center expansion, balancing immediate operational needs against long-term business objectives while maintaining rigorous financial controls.
A day in the life
Your typical day involves reviewing Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs) to ensure alignment with financial strategies and conducting deep dives into unit cost analytics. You'll collaborate with construction teams to optimize spending and with finance colleagues to align on forecasts and reporting. Between analytical work, you'll mentor team members, participate in cross-functional meetings with engineering and operations teams, and strategize on inventory optimization to balance supply chain security with financial efficiency.

The AWS Data Center Finance team provides comprehensive financial support that enables AWS to be the lowest cost provider in cloud computing while maintaining leadership in customer experience. We partner closely with engineering, operations, and procurement teams to drive financial discipline across AWS’s data center portfolio.

Basic Qualifications
• 12+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, and Computer Science)
Preferred Qualifications
• 5+ years of hiring, leading and developing teams experience
• 8+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
• 8+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
• 8+ years of mentoring junior finance and/or business team members experience
• 5+ years of working with senior staff (e.g., c‑suite) experience
• MBA, or CPA
• 3+ years of performing financial and ad‑hoc analysis using data…
