Key Responsibilities- Drive financial planning & analysis; build complex financial models and analytical tools to support review of S3's costs and capacity.
- Develop short‑ and long‑term financial/operational forecasts of S3’s infrastructure footprint.
- Develop, track, and report relevant KPIs to provide financial and operational insights into Cap Ex and OpEx drivers, influencing business decisions.
- Perform ad‑hoc financial analyses and projects.
Your day revolves around cross‑functional collaboration—partnering with engineering, finance, and operations teams to align capacity planning with business objectives while tracking actual usage and Cap Ex spend against plan. You will translate complex technical requirements into financial implications, monitor variances, and communicate trade‑offs to stakeholders. You’ll coordinate approval workflows, analyze spending trends, guide team members, and continue learning AI tools and internal systems to enhance efficiency.

The S3 Finance Cost and Capacity Team supports one of AWS’s most critical foundational services, directly impacting not only S3 but also driving cost implications across the entire AWS ecosystem. The team translates infrastructure decisions into business impact at massive scale, influencing rack and server landings, procurement strategies, and new product pricing decisions.
Basic Qualifications- 3+ years of tax, finance, or a related analytical field experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field. (Alternatively, Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of quantitative role experience.)
- MBA or CFA.
- 4+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses.
- 4+ years of creating process improvements with automation.
- 4+ years of identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance or business tools and processes.
- Experience with advanced use of SQL for data mining and business intelligence.
- 3+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects to scale and improve controllership with measurable results.
- Experience working with large‑scale data mining and reporting tools such as SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos.
- Demonstrated experience leveraging GenAI tools to streamline workflows, including building custom agents and identifying automation opportunities.
Base salary range: 82,700.00 – USD annually (USA, WA, Seattle). The total Amazon package includes sign‑on payments, restricted stock units (RSUs), and benefits such as health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
