About the Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations in Seattle. This is a key leadership position responsible for managing all aspects of financial reporting, project accounting, and compliance. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who enjoys building strong processes and partnering with executive leadership to drive company growth.
- Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and cash management.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes and prepare accurate, timely financial statements.
- Manage project accounting, including job costing, WIP (Work in Progress) schedules, billing, and revenue recognition.
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and process improvements.
- Collaborate with project managers and senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Cashflow forecasting
- Coordinate with external CPA firms.
- Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a construction or project-based environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, job costing, WIP accounting, and financial reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop teams and collaborate across departments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
