About the Role

We are looking for a Risk Program Advisor who is driven to make a positive impact on the employee and member experience. You are a strategic thinker with a bias for action. You have a relentless pursuit of excellence while bringing others along. You do not settle for mediocrity and are comfortable challenging the status quo. If you’re always looking for more efficient and innovative ways of working, are thoughtful, intentional, and collaborative, we would love to talk to you!

The Risk Program Advisor is the enterprise‑wide facilitator of our ERM framework, owning the risk assessment cycle, risk register, key risk indicators, and risk reporting. This is a consultative, highly confidential, hands‑on role that embeds risk thinking into strategy, projects, and day‑to‑day operations. This is an exciting opportunity to bring forth new ideas and see those ideas come to life.

What You Will Do
  • Conduct annual enterprise risk assessments in all operational and functional areas of the credit union, including key compliance areas such as BSA, OFAC, and payment systems.
  • Maintain and monitor the risk register and risk taxonomy; document inherent and residual risk and control effectiveness under the guidance of the AVP of ERM.
  • Integrate risk analysis into strategic planning, major initiatives, and resource allocation.
  • Develop and maintain the risk appetite and tolerance statement handbook.
  • Define, monitor, and report Key Risk Indicators (KRIs); escalate emerging risks and facilitate action plans with risk owners and executives.
  • Provide expert compliance advice across all departments to ensure activities, initiatives, and processes meet regulatory requirements.
  • Review and recommend edits to marketing collateral and member communications, partnering with Marketing Department.
  • Manage the relationship with the credit union’s disclosure vendor to ensure timely updates and publishing of credit union disclosures.
  • Draft and maintain ERM policies, standards, and procedures; align with safety and soundness principles and regulatory expectations.
  • Prepare concise, executive‑ready ERM reports and dashboards for ELT, Board, and audit committee; coordinate materials and follow‑ups.
  • Assist leaders and teams on risk culture; partner with other teams to deliver risk education and playbooks; champion efficient, right‑sized controls.
  • Oversee the business continuity program (BCP) by leading the BCP Committee, coordinating testing, training, and conducting business impact analysis.
  • Drive the execution of the vendor management program by coordinating with business owners to ensure vendors are properly assessed and managed according to organizational standards and regulations.
  • Oversee the use of the GRC platform through guidance and oversight, ensuring audit findings, vendor management, and incident responses are documented in accordance with policies and regulatory standards.
  • Provide consultative risk guidance to organizational leaders.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
