Customer Service Specialist – Walgreens

Base Pay Range

$21.30/hr - $24.00/hr

Responsibilities
  • Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Registers sales on the assigned cash register, providing customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
  • Assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy by using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving customer issues and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Recommends items for sale and trade‑up or companion items to customers.
  • Registers customer purchases, collects cash, distributes change, and processes voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges as needed.
  • Keeps counters and shelves clean and well merchandised, takes inventory, and maintains records; checks in and prices merchandise as required.
  • Performs assigned duties by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine, checking for interactions, and scheduling workflow.
  • Reports prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and follows company policies and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Handles telephone calls not requiring the pharmacist’s personal attention, including those to physicians.
  • Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third‑party prescription services efficiently.
  • Supports Pharmacy Department inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments, and files claims for overages, shortages, or damaged goods.
  • Ensures compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products such as alcoholic beverages and tobacco.
  • Constructs and maintains displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise, and completes resets and revisions as directed.
  • Assists with separation of food items and product placement as specified by policies, and performs stock rotation using the first‑in, first‑out method.
  • Has working knowledge of store systems and equipment.
  • Provides customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service and promotional post‑print.
  • Assumes web pick‑up responsibilities, monitoring orders, picking items, and delivering orders to customers upon arrival.
  • Assists with exterior and interior maintenance to ensure a clean, neat, orderly store condition and appearance.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification/registration.
  • Attends training and completes PPLs requested by Management or assigned by corporate, acquiring continuing education credits and maintaining knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy developments.
Basic Qualifications
  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Prefer good math skills for accurate prescription filling.
  • Prefer good computer skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Prefer PTCB certification.
