Role Summary
The Manager Project Engineering is responsible for driving the execution and successful delivery of large scale and complex projects at Alaska Airlines. As a people leader, this role leads and establishes the day-to-day and strategic priorities of the Project Engineering team, and is responsible for the planning and implementation of major aircraft projects and initiatives, in accordance with established regulations, standards and best practices.
ResponsibilitiesLeads the project engineering team and establishes the priorities for the implementation and execution of new and ongoing Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) projects, aircraft linefit projects, and aircraft retrofit projects. Directly supervising projects that affect multiple organizations, departments and/or entire company AAG.
Ensures a Continued Airworthiness Maintenance (CAM) program is in place on each FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) project by prompt evaluation of manufacturer information, internal processes and Federal Air Regulations.
Develop and maintain the creation of project metrics and establish a method of tracking.
Attends industry meetings and represents company at meetings as required.
Participates in design reviews with OEM and vendors as required and serves as a business partner with manufacturers and vendors, as well as other departments within the Company.
Manages the engineering support at prototype and on-going installations at MRO.
Reviews and approves Engineering Control (EC) and Task Cards (TC).
Assists in creating and developing Request for Proposals (RFP) and then in turn evaluating those vendor proposals.
Ensures projects are following Federal Aviation Regulations and Engineering process and procedures and stays informed of changes and requirements of Federal Aviation Regulations.
Maintains current knowledge of changes and strategies in the Air Transportation and Aerospace fields.
Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on delegation for stretch assignments, growing and developing the team for capacity and growth, looking at performance across the team, and time management.
Drive effective practices to build a culture of belonging.
Shape culture of team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors.
Required
5 years of aircraft engineering project management experience with Commercial Aerospace or 121 operations, and experience in STC activities.
2 years of leadership experience.
Bachelor's degree, with a focus in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Knowledge of FAA regulations and oversight functions (for both aircraft and engine operating airworthiness certificates).
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and proven success driving measurable results to enhance both customer and employee satisfaction.
Hands on project management experience, including all elements of scope, schedule, budget, risk evaluation, issue resolution, quality, integration, staffing, and communications.
Ability to manage multiple large projects simultaneously.
Travels up to 20%, as necessary.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Understanding of the FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) process.
Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement training and certifications.
Engineering management or team leadership experience.

Salary and BenefitsSalary Range $149,600- $224,400 / year

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
