Job Description & How to Apply Below
Endurance is developing modular seafloor geothermal power plants that harness the vast thermal energy beneath the ocean floor to provide gigawatts of clean, reliable energy. We're addressing the critical power bottleneck facing AI infrastructure development while creating a path toward energy independence and decarbonization across the globe.
Backed by premier venture capital firms including First Round Capital and Point
72 Ventures, our exceptional founding team includes veterans from Space
X, Robinhood, Helion, and Neuralink, with specialized expertise in complex thermal and fluid systems and business development.
We're seeking a hands-on Test Engineer to join our team at our headquarters in Seattle. In this role, you'll support the design, assembly, and testing programs of our revolutionary seafloor power generation systems. This is a critical, highly practical position where you will have extreme ownership over test system design, commissioning, and test execution, which will directly contribute to validating technologies that operate in some of the harshest environments on Earth.
The Role
As a Test Engineer, you'll work alongside all engineering disciplines to design, build, and operate test systems, prepare components for evaluation, and ensure test infrastructure is safe, reliable, and repeatable. You'll gain hands-on experience with high-pressure fluid systems, thermal power equipment, and large-scale mechanical assemblies while helping us validate the world's first subsea geothermal power plant.
Your contributions will be central to our upcoming 100kWe compact power cycle testing program, where you'll help set up instrumentation, assemble mechanical systems, and support round-the-clock test operations.
Additionally, you will support rapid prototyping and first of a kind manufacturing efforts required to deliver subsea infrastructure in a fast past environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design test campaigns, test equipment, and test procedures
- Assemble and maintain test rigs for thermal power generation systems, including piping, pressure systems, and mechanical components
- Assist with instrumentation setup, wiring, and data acquisition hardware installation
- Operate test equipment and support execution of component and system-level testing
- Perform hands-on machining, fabrication, and modifications to support rapid prototyping and test readiness
- Follow safety procedures for high-pressure and high-temperature operations, ensuring test sites are compliant and secure
- Document assembly steps, test procedures, and observations for review
- Support teardown, inspection, and analysis of tested components to identify wear, failure modes, or reliability concerns
- Troubleshoot and resolve test setup or equipment issues
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe lab and test environment
- Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, or related technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 2+ years of experience working with mechanical systems, fluid systems, or test setups
- Hands-on experience with machining, fabrication, and mechanical assembly
- Familiarity with fluid and pressure systems (pumps, valves, piping, fittings)
- Comfort with instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new systems quickly
- Detail-oriented approach with a focus on safety and reliability
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Prior experience with high-pressure fluid systems or thermal test rigs
- Test experience with rotating equipment, pumps, or turbines
- Welding or fabrication experience
- Familiarity with LabVIEW, Python, or similar for basic data acquisition or test automation
- Experience working with ASME pressure vessels, piping codes, or related standards
- Hands-on Experience: Work directly with large-scale, cutting-edge clean energy systems and participate in sea trials
- Impact-Driven Work: Contribute to solving one of the world's most pressing challenges-clean, reliable power generation
- Competitive Compensation: Competitive salary and equity compensation
- Benefits: Health, dental, and vision coverage
- PTO: Unlimited with advanced notice
