  • Collaborate with a team of scientists to conduct wetland and stream delineations and functional assessments, vegetation surveys, wildlife surveys, and other field activities in urban and remote settings.
  • Prepare written environmental reports including wetland and stream delineation reports, critical areas reports, biological assessments, monitoring reports, etc., and develop mitigation options, plans and documents to address project impacts.
  • Prepare documentation to support critical areas regulations, Endangered Species Act consultation, Clean Water Act Section 404 and 401 Permitting, WDFW Hydraulic Project Approvals, local land use permits, and other state/local permits.
  • Work on a wide variety of environmental compliance and natural resources projects as they relate to water resources, transportation and development projects.
  • Work under the supervision of mid-level and senior environmental scientist and water resource engineers.
  • Take responsibility for assisting with environmental permits, NEPA documentation, biological assessments and other environmental compliance documentation.
  • Assist senior and mid-level scientists in field work associated with the collection of natural resource data.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience managing and/or conducting analyses in support of biological and/or environmental projects.
  • Understanding of common plant species in the Pacific Northwest, soils, hydrology, and aquatic ecosystems.
  • Experience with wetland delineations using Western Mountain Valleys Coast and Arid West regional supplements to the Corps of Engineers wetland delineation manuals.
  • Wetland Professional In Training (WPIT) certification, or ability to obtain.
  • Experience with GPS units, GIS software and webmaps, to support data collection, mapping, and reporting.
  • Qualified WSDOT Biological Assessment Author.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Federal and/or Washington state/local regulations.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment with multiple technical disciplines.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data, proactively identify, and solve problems.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced work environment with changing deadlines and priorities.
  • Ability to complete fieldwork that may include manual labor, adverse weather conditions and/or work on irregular and steep terrain.
