Located in Seattle WA, Osprey Aerial Systems LLC is aerospace engineering services firm. We specialize in product development, R&D, and engineering support across commercial and defense platforms. As we grow, we are seeking an experienced System Engineer to support upcoming Drone Service Projects.
OverviewOsprey Aerial Systems is seeking a System Engineer to support our inspection services team, focusing on aerial systems, data acquisition, and infrastructure analysis. This position plays a key role in designing, deploying, and maintaining drone-based inspection systems, including integration with sensors, data platforms, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Specify, integrate, and validate sensors (visual, thermal, LiDAR, etc.).
- Collaborate with flight operations and data analytics teams for mission planning and execution.
- Develop automated inspection workflows and software-hardware interfaces.
- Ensure regulatory compliance (FAA, OSHA, ISO, etc.) for inspection operations.
- Troubleshoot technical issues during field operations and conduct root cause analysis.
- Prepare technical documentation, user manuals, and inspection protocols.
- Support customer onboarding, training, and technical consultations.
- Lead or assist in R&D efforts for new inspection technologies or capabilities.
- Design and develop inspection system architecture for drone-based platforms.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ year’s experience in inspection technologies, aerospace, robotics, or unmanned systems.
- Hands‑on experience with UAV systems, sensor integration, or embedded systems.
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C++, or related tools for systems modeling and automation.
- Experience with CAD tools, circuit design, and control systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with FAA regulations and safety protocols for UAV operations.
- Knowledge of non‑destructive testing (NDT), structural inspections, or infrastructure monitoring.
- Familiarity with photogrammetry, LiDAR processing, or digital twin technology.
- Experience working in utility, oil & gas, renewable energy, or construction sectors.
$80,000 – $120,000 annually (DOE).
Contract or project-based hourly rates negotiable.
EEOCompensation at Osprey Aerial Systems will target base pay for this position is $80,000 – $120,000 annually. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
