Responsibilities- Supervises staff performing or serves as project engineer and Engineer of Record on technically complex, visible, and/or controversial projects or programs involving Drinking water pipelines, conveyance pipes, valving, pump stations, ER-DIP, cathodic protection, water system appurtenances, site restoration, ADA ramp designs, and general utility infrastructure projects.
- Leads the Drinking Water Design and Engineering Group.
- Supervises activities of a design team in the preparation of preliminary and long-range plans, schedules, estimates, budgets, detailed final construction plans, specifications, and agreements; oversees project progress from design through construction.
- Monitors the work of consultants and construction contractors to ensure compliance with contract provisions and scope of work.
- Supervises the preparation of a variety of reports, correspondence, and official documents.
- Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
- Supervises the growth and development of staff and ensures high-quality design products from staff.
- Education:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology, or other combinations of education and/or experience providing preparation to complete professional Civil Engineering work. - Experience:
Six years professional civil engineering experience, including two years supervisory experience. - License, Certification:
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Washington; current Washington State driver’s license or evidence of equivalent mobility.

The full salary range for this position is $81.17 per hour - $94.12 per hour. This position allows for the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Starting January 2, 2025, City employees will have the option to work remotely two days per week.
Individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.
