Fives Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager (Technical) to join our team in Seattle, Washington.

ResponsibilitiesAt Fives, we all have a part to play in achieving our common purpose. This role:
- Provides technical leadership by mentoring, coaching and developing engineers.
- Provides hands‑on design support for automated industrial mechanical systems, owning the most complex design and troubleshooting challenges.
- Helps to interpret (and teach, when required) the correct use of components and their representation in pneumatic and hydraulic schematics.
- Develops internal standards and governance to support the rapid execution of projects while maintaining high quality.
- Maintains master‑level knowledge of the engineering systems used to generate mechanical designs, assemblies and drawings.
- Collaborates with the Project Management Office and other Engineering Managers to coordinate the assigned workload of engineering resources.
- Supports project and company goals by working closely with HR to strategically grow the mechanical engineer team through candidate selection and onboarding.
- Analyzes departmental processes and systems for ways to standardize and improve accuracy, quality, cost and efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
- 10 years of engineering experience required.
- PE certification strongly preferred.
- 3+ years of management experience strongly preferred.
- Proven efficiency with 2D/3D software (Solid Works preferred).
- Proven experience in hand calculations and finite element analysis (Ansys preferred).
- Thorough understanding of physics and automation principles.
- Expert knowledge of industry standards pertaining to engineering design.
- Excellent management and organizational ability.
- Proficient in problem‑solving and analytical thinking.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
