Basic ResponsibilitiesSnohomish County PUD (SNOPUD) is looking for a Telecommunications Engineer to plan, design, and implement the District’s communications infrastructure. The Telecommunications department is deploying a new communications network to meet the evolving needs of the utility. Current work includes implementation of a P25 land mobile radio system, deployment of a 900 MHz point‑to‑multipoint network supporting Distribution Automation and Advanced Metering Infrastructure, and replacement of a legacy SONET network with an MPLS‑based transport network.
An ideal candidate will bring practical RF engineering experience with public‑safety‑grade land mobile radio (LMR) systems, along with familiarity with network transport architectures.
The Telecommunications Engineer plans, designs, develops, and engineers the District’s telecommunications data transport and land mobile radio systems. The position supports multiple functional technology areas within the telecommunications network, provides clear and accurate project documentation to technical staff and engineers for efficient and timely completion of work, and ensures compliance with all applicable governmental, industry, and District standards and policies.

Minimum QualificationsTelecommunications Engineer II $117,508 to $146,885 Annually
Experience and Education
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field,
AND - Two (2) years of experience in the Telecommunications or a related Electric Utility field;
OR
- Six (6) years of experience in the Telecommunications or a related Electric Utility field.
Minimum Required License(s) and/or Certification(s):
- Washington State Driver s License with a good driving record.
Preferred License(s) and/or Certification(s)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
Experience and Education
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field,
AND - Four (4) years of experience in the Telecommunications or a related Electric Utility field;
OR
- Eight (8) years of experience in the Telecommunications or a related Electric Utility field.
Minimum Required License(s) and/or Certification(s):
- Washington State Driver s License with a good driving record.
Preferred License(s) and/or Certification(s)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
