Could you be VIE – Testing & Commissioning Engineer we’re looking for?
Prepare and execute Testing & Commissioning activities in support of the Seattle Tacoma Airport (Seatac) APM Modernization project. The main role of the VIE will be to witness and/or participate in the testing and commissioning activities and support the senior engineers. The commissioning activities may involve occasional work in a Brownfield environment where the various testing activities may require a high percentage of the work to be performed during non-revenue hours.
- Prepares and executes testing activities for technologies of railway signaling under the supervision of senior signaling engineer and/or the Test and Commissioning Manager.
- Executes specific Testing activities according to the testing procedures / documentation and instructions from the Test and Commissioning Manager or Senior Tester.
- Adheres to testing schedules and testing plans for internal and external customers
- Prepares the technical reports to be reviewed by the Test and Commissioning Manager or a Senior Tester before formal submittal to the customer
- Document in detail test results from the field and analyze logs as required
- Performs activities with quality and efficiency while meeting customer expectations.
- Alerts the hierarchical superiors if any risk identified during the testing activities
- Expected to successfully pass the Safety training provided by the customer.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- 1 year of field experience in a testing environment (experience in a railway environment is a plus).
- Adaptability to variable work schedules (about 50-60% night shifts) to support testing activities.
- Good technical writing and communication skills.
- Knowledge of rail signalling (considered an asset).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
- Familiarity with standard testing tools such as terminal programs, Wireshark, multimeter, and command line.
- Experience in writing and reviewing technical reports and communicating at technical and managerial levels.
- Motivation to perform testing and commissioning activities.
- Attention to detail and discipline in work processes.
- Proactive and efficient in solving technical issues and anticipating challenges.
- Team-oriented and customer-focused with a commitment to getting the job done.
- Aptitude for self-learning and documenting processes effectively.
- Commitment to safety, regulations, and professional standards (including EHS).
- Fluency in English.
- Work with new security standards for rail signalling.
- Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues.
- Contribute to innovative projects.
