Overview
Description AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
Power & Cooling (PAC) team is seeking a results-oriented individual with strong business judgement skills and experience working with internal and external stakeholders to own material planning for Data Center Power & Cooling Equipment. Our Material Planning Managers are high-energy self-starters that are excited to work across different functions to deliver power and cooling equipment to our data centers globally.
As a member of the Power and Cooling Supply Chain Management Team, this role s primary responsibility is to maintain unconstrained supply for the responsible regions and work with our internal customers and business partners to audit and track inventory status and materials from Design to Delivery. You will be the single threaded leader and first line of escalation for any post-delivery construction and commissioning issues.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own projects through completion.
Responsibilities- The Materials Planning Manager is a single threaded leader who serves as the orchestrator of long-lead equipment (LLE) planning and delivery execution for AWS data centers. This role drives forecast accuracy, milestone tracking, and risk management to ensure timely data center delivery.
- Demand Planning and Forecasting - development and maintenance of a rolling three-year forecast for LLE, collaborating with business partners to capture evolving requirements. This includes managing schedule changes, tracking design modifications, and validating net new demand to maintain forecast accuracy. Coordinate with design teams to ensure equipment specifications align with construction timelines and maintain a change management process that achieves first-time-right implementations.
- Milestone Management and Progress Tracking - monitor the critical path from forecast creation through design, funding, delivery, and commissioning. Maintain a milestone tracking system to enable proactive identification of potential delays, with a goal of 100% milestone achievement. Escalate risks and pursue mitigation strategies as needed to protect schedules.
- Risk Management and Prioritization - track supplier delivery commitments against construction need-by dates, serving as an early warning system for potential schedule impacts. Partner with Global Supply Chain Managers to highlight risks and support mitigation strategies. Drive build prioritization decisions and maintain a dynamic risk register to predict and prevent delays.
- Post-Delivery Support and Issue Resolution - serve as the primary escalation point for post-delivery challenges at construction sites, including quality concerns and resource constraints. Build trusted relationships with suppliers and supply managers. Lead war room sessions to resolve critical issues and drive prompt resolution.
- Impact - Success in this role directly affects AWS s ability to deliver data centers on schedule. Metrics include construction timelines and successful equipment installation, with a focus on forecast accuracy, milestone tracking, and risk mitigation rather than supplier negotiations.
