Overview
Hubble Network was founded with the intention of delivering on the promise of what Internet-of-Things (IoT) was supposed to be. We re building a global Bluetooth® network dedicated to machine-to-machine connectivity. Hubble differentiates itself as the first modem-less and gateway-less, direct-to-satellite network from off-the-shelf Bluetooth® Low Energy chips. Our goal is to be the first billion-endpoint-connected network in the world. Hubble is an early-stage, venture-backed startup supported by leading investors with a track record of successful exits.
We are looking to bring on talented team members who excel in their roles to help make Hubble a reality for the world.
We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to drive the detailed design of our satellite payloads. This is a builder-focused role where you will work closely with our Senior Mechanical Engineers and CTO to turn concepts into flight-ready hardware and act as a key contributor to our engineering team, turning clearly defined mechanical objectives into robust solutions.
This position offers a balance of execution and innovation: you will perform detailed engineering to support and improve our current satellite fleet, while contributing to the conceptual design of our next-generation satellites. This is a full-time position based in Seattle, WA.
Responsibilities- Space Mechanisms:
Design, detail, and prototype high-reliability space mechanisms, including hold-down release mechanisms (HDRMs), deployment hinges, and actuation systems required to deploy payloads in orbit. - Harnessing & Routing:
Execute detailed 3D routing and cable management strategies. Design securing methods for extensive harnessing within tight payload volume constraints. - Payload Packaging:
Design mechanical structures to house complex RF layouts, specifically mounting PCBs to composite panels with precision standoffs, stiffeners, and fittings. - GSE & Test Fixtures:
Design and support the fabrication of ground support equipment, lifting fixtures, and test stands for handling, transport, and qualification of flight hardware. - Engineering Documentation:
Produce high-quality manufacturing drawings, assembly procedures, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to guide production and integration.
- A Sense of Urgency:
Lead projects from concept to reality, rapidly and effectively. - First Principles Engineering:
Understand the whys behind the whats and extrapolate from first principles to complex system design. - High Learning Agility:
Learn quickly, recognize weaknesses, and collaborate across diverse backgrounds. - System-Level Design and Analysis:
Understand requirements flow-down and iteratively adapt to evolving needs. - Excellent Communication
Skills:
Convey technical topics, run design reviews, and collaborate across teams. - Anticipation of Needs:
Identify problems and rapidly deliver reliable and cost-effective solutions.
- Mentorship &
Collaboration:
Work with senior technical leadership and execute high-quality work with precision. - Tools:
Proficiency in Onshape is used; familiarity with other CAD suites (Solid Works, NX, Catia) is acceptable with adaptability.
- 3–5 Years of
Experience:
Demonstrated history of delivering hardware from concept to production, preferably in Aerospace or Satellite sectors. - Mechanism
Experience:
Design or analysis of moving mechanical assemblies, releases, or deployable structures. - Harnessing Knowledge:
Experience with cable routing, bend radii, and connector selection for high-reliability environments. - Prototype & Build:
Strong portfolio of building projects; ability to assemble, torque, and test what is designed. - Composites Awareness:
Experience interfacing with honeycomb panels, inserts, and composite structures is highly desired.
- Technical Growth:
Work directly with seasoned engineers who have built space flight hardware. - Impact:
You are packaging core technology that connects billions of Bluetooth devices. - Future Design:
You will have a seat at the table as we define the architecture for the next generation of Hubble satellites.
- Salary: $90,000 - $150,000 (commensurate with experience)
- Comprehensive Benefits:
Health, Dental, Vision, & HSA options - Unlimited PTO
- Commuter Benefits (if working from HQ)
- Learning & Development Allowance
- Health & Wellness Stipend
- Sabbatical Program
- Cutting-Edge Space Tech:
Work on state-of-the-art satellite systems
