The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience performing original product design of complex electro‑mechanical systems. The candidate will become a key resource within the hardware engineering group which is responsible for the design of such systems. The ability to work independently and in group settings is critical, as is the ability to prioritize tasks within a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate would also have familiarity with designing to the standards listed below as well as exceptional communication skills.
Note: this is an on-site position.
- Design and document projects from concept through release to manufacturing
- Design, integrate, test and debug electronic circuitry for controlling motors, LEDs, lasers, and other types of automated devices (USB, SPI)
- Define and drive requirements and verification at all levels (Robo Doc)
- Design system‑level configuration of electronic architecture
- Troubleshoot new and existing electronic designs, for example: noise suppression, grounding schemes, and assisting with production quality issues
- Design test methods and tooling for incoming PCBA functional testing (Virtual Instrument Software Architecture, PyQt, Numpy, Matplotlib)
- Ensure regulatory compliance including electromagnetic compatibility and immunity and safety
- Create chip level embedded firmware for microprocessor based hardware designs (Cross Core Embedded Studio, Microchip MPLAB, Infineon PSoC Creator)
- Create Field Programmable Gate Array designs (Altera Quartus Prime Lite)
- Write software for testing and validating designs (C, Python, Tortoise SVN)
- Use of design tools and IPC standards for the creation of PCBA layouts (Altium Designer, Viewmate)
- Other duties as assigned
- B.S., Electrical or Computer Engineering
- 5+ years experience designing complex capital equipment systems including: overall architecture, circuit and PCBA design, cable design, regulatory testing
- IEC 61010 – Low Voltage Safety
- IEC 60825 – Laser Safety
- IEC 62471 – Photobiological Hazard of Light
- IEC 61326 – EMC requirements for Electrical equipment for laboratory use
- IEC 61508 – Functional Safety
- FDA CDRH – Laser Safety
Base Salary Range: $140,000 - $153,000 (annualized)
Determining a base wage will be based on several factors which include skill set, level of education, experience and qualifications, as well as the comparison to existing Rare Cyte employees in the position. Some roles may also qualify for additional compensation such as bonus, commission, stock options and travel allowance.
