TravelUp to 10% international and domestic travel may be required.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Failure Analysis support engineer, you will be responsible for conducting technical lab work that supports prototype failure analysis and materials development investigations. You will develop and execute SOPs focused on producing world‑class analysis outcomes in sample preparation and physical/chemical characterization. You will provide technical support for materials and failure analysis investigations with the goal of driving design and manufacturing improvements.

- Optical inspection and measurements
- Mechanical cross‑sectioning and associated sample preparation
- 2‑D and computed tomography (CT) X‑ray inspection methods
- Materials testing execution (thermal‑mechanical and environmental testing)
- Lab equipment maintenance
- 2 years of related work experience with an Associate of Science degree in laboratory technology, electron microscopy, x‑ray analysis, or related field
- Experience in performing bulk materials or electronics cross sections
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Experience with lab safety best practices
- Experience in writing SOP documents and lab reports
- Bachelor of Science degree in materials science or related field
- Experience with failure analysis methodology to derive root‑cause diagnosis of failure
- Experience with materials and failure analysis techniques such as SEM/EDX, mechanical testing, dye‑and‑pry, hardness testing, and 3‑D surface profiling
- Experience with X‑ray inspection and measurement software (VGSTUDIO or similar)
- Experience in an aerospace‑related lab environment
- Experience making custom fixtures (3‑D printing, machining, prototyping)
