Some of what you'll be doing:
As the Aviation Facilities & Infrastructure Fire Alarm Specialist, you will coordinate multiple capital projects with engineered infrastructure and act as the project sponsor for renewal and replacement projects to ensure adequate fire alarm infrastructure to support future growth.
You will provide technical support for fire alarm and requirements of local, state, and federal regulatory agencies or districts.
You will act as a center of expertise for the airport’s fire alarm systems and participate in risk analysis and develop contingency plans for unexpected problems.
You will conduct inventory, condition, and capacity assessment for fire alarm systems.
You will lead the development of preventative maintenance programs for operations and maintenance of the fire alarm system.
You will sponsor capital projects to support comprehensive infrastructure plans and implement design vision.
You will coordinate with planning and capital development departments to ensure program schedule aligns with the available lifecycle expectancy of systems, century agenda and sustainability goals, and regulatory and aviation growth requirements.
You will evaluate project design drawings for moderate sized capital and expense projects for conformance to standards and specifications and coordination with other capital projects and expansion of existing infrastructure.
You will approve or deny variance requests to existing infrastructure and attend infrastructure review meetings.
You will conduct construction administration for moderate-sized capital projects including submittals, Request for Information (RFI), site observation, construction meetings, and punch walks.
Experienced – You have three (3) years of experience in fire alarm systems including design, modeling, construction, testing, commissioning or activation.
Desired – We hope you have any of the following licenses/certifications:
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Certified Fire Alarm ITM Specialist (CFAITMS) Professional, Certified Fire Alarm Designer (CFAD), NICET Level II Fire Alarm certification, and/or NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist.Committed to Equity – You will apply equity and exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices in all aspects of the work. Technically Skilled – You are proficient in fire alarm software programming, understanding programming, control devices, annunciators, wiring, and network infrastructure requirements in a campus environment. You know how to use AutoCAD to draft and model fire alarm systems.
Excellent Communicator – You have strong verbal, written, presentation, and active listening communication skills. You can convey complex and technical details to individuals with varying degrees of technical knowledge.
Project Manager – You have time management skills that include prioritizing work between multiple projects and meeting deadlines. You can coordinate and collaborate with multi-discipline project teams.
Knowledgeable – You can evaluate concepts based on compliance with standards, regulations, and alignment with discipline specific vision.
Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.
Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
