About the RoleThe MEP Cost Engineer will work within the Cost Management department and report directly to the Cost Manager or Project Manager. This role requires close collaboration with Construction Managers and Superintendents and is fully based at the project site. The position focuses exclusively on the mechanics, electrical, plumbing, and process-related aspects of construction.
Salary: $88,400 – $114,400 annually (depending on experience and qualifications).
Key Responsibilities- Set up and maintain job cost reports, including budgets, commitments, forecasts, yet‑to‑buy items, contingencies, and spend statements.
- Track costs by bid package, field order, and specific change categories defined by the client.
- Establish and manage project indicators with visual graphics.
- Work with subcontractors and vendors to validate cost proposals.
- Reconcile project cost reports monthly.
- Interpret design documents, construction documents, and technical manuals to quantify required materials.
- Perform screen-based take‑off of material quantities.
- Caysage and manage cost authorization documents.
- Summarize material quantities in an organized fashion.
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, and Teams); general understanding of network environments.
- Experience with project management software such as Prolog, Procore, E‑Builder, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Primavera P6.
- Proficiency in design software including AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
- Training in design and construction document reading and understanding specification systems.
- Strong grasp of CSI specification system and technical data organization.
- Excellent observation, interpretation, time‑management, written and oral communication, and teamwork skills. boissons
- Flexible schedule to accommodate extended hours or off‑shift work.
- Minimum two years of construction estimating experience.
- Experience with industrial or hi‑tech semiconductor manufacturing projects is zow prefer.
- LEED Accredited Professional or ability to obtain accreditation within 18 months is preferred.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent required.
- Background in materials and construction methods is a plus.
- Standing, walking, and sitting throughout the workday.
- Must be able to climb stairs (5% of the day).
- Ballistic (constant use of hands/fingers for computer tasks).
- Sight: vision acuity in all ranges, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination.
- Hearing: sufficient for conversational levels in person and over the phone.
- Speech: able to speak clearly in person and on the phone.
- Lift/C Arrange: up to 20 lbs.; minimal computer or drawing items.
- Bending/Twisting, kneeling/crouching/crawling: minimal.
- Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required.
- Must work independently, make decisions, and follow through on assignments.
- Must use creativity, independent judgment, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Must plan and organize work.
- Must have strong computer skills and proficiency in English technical documentation дороги.'
