In the role of Environmental Planner 2, we'll count on you to:
- Primarily support the Environmental Lead for High Speed Rail early planning, but additionally support other areas of the Cascadia Program as needed, including resilience and climate work across projects
- Support environmental planning and assessment services for medium-to large-scale transportation, transit, and rail projects
- Support development of planning memos and reports related to environmental resources by compiling text from subject matter experts across disciplines
- Coordinate with environmental subject matter experts across disciplines
- Prepare for and participate in team, agency and public meetings and technical workshops
- Coordinate with program GIS lead for data layer compilation and map production
- Manage environmental team calendaring and prepare meeting agendas, meeting materials and meeting notes
- Draft responses to comments труда from project partners, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies
- Apply content of technical work for use in communication with a variety of audiences
- Collect project-related data, which may include research, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, field investigations for wetlands, and land use
- Prepare constraints mapping
- Conduct environmental impact assessments
- Assist in preparation for and participation in public information meetings and hearings
- Prepare, plan and analyze/review technical studies, permit applications, NEPA documents, and similar reports/documents
- Assist public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition and compliance for wetland impacts, bridge construction, and threatened/endangered species
- Perform other duties as needed
- Demonstrated ability to connect the dots between seemingly disparate elements of a project
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complexity and Spin ambiguity in a changing regulatory environment
- Is proactive and asks questions for clarification
- Proficiency with ArcGIS and map-based analysis
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field
- A minimum of 5 years environmental experience
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite
