Senior Plumbing Engineer – Buildings (Seattle, WA)

WSP is looking for a full‑time senior plumbing engineer to join our Seattle, WA office. The role is part of the Property & Buildings Team and supports a range of new design and rehabilitation projects.

Responsibilities
  • Determine well‑defined methods for collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, and other project information.
  • Perform professional plumbing engineering work and conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, building, infrastructure, and usage; install plumbing, fire protection and suppression, and fluid flow systems to conform with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
  • Develop construction and installation plans, specifications, and cost estimates; prepare construction safety and phasing plans, and update infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, architects, other disciplines, sub‑consultants, and clients.
  • Incorporate advanced technology, modeling techniques, concept development, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to ensure proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems according to specifications; implement future‑ready solutions with plumbing engineering design standards.
  • Work individually or as part of a cross‑functional team of engineers, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project hacer on multiple concurrent projects, assist with laying out installation of equipment, calculating costs and quantities of material/equipment/labor, and ensuring project work conforms with specifications, permit applications, schematics, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.

    Chip and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations to improve, prevent, control, restore, or address design and/or construction issues or opportunikkis.
  • Assist in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of data obtained during site investigations, offering input to develop action plans for moderate‑to‑high‑level risk installation, equipment and system operations, and/or mitigation activities.
  • Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
  • Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, architects, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
  • Remain current in latest plumbing engineering techniques and practices.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers, architects, and building and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conductپاک related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant post‑education experience in engineering and prior plumbing and mechanical design experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of plumbing and mechanical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work‑related issues.
  • Experience with building and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including active involvement in a variety of rehabilitation and new design projects.
