This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations.

EarlyCareer Pathways

- Collaborate as part of a hardworking team to address material challenges in various spaceflight systems.
- Review production drawings for large, complex assemblies to ensure optimal material selection and process implementation.
- Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes for both metallic and non-metallic hardware.
- Select materials and define design requirements to meet engineering, structural, and program goals.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including quality, design, structures, thermal, integration, and manufacturing, to optimize overall system design and performance.
- Minimum of a B.S. degree or higher in materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, metallurgical engineering, polymer engineering, welding engineering, geology/geosciences and mining engineering or related field.
- Will have earned their degree within the last year and able to start by Fall 2026.
- Broad experience in:
- Metallic materials such as super alloys, aluminums/ titaniums and their associated processing (e.g. forging, casting, forming, brazing, welding, etc.)
- Non-metallic (e.g. o-rings, seals, lubricants) hardware.
- Material characterization and failure modes (corrosion, failure investigation, thermal degradation, etc.)
- Breaking down complex problems into traceable tasks and concisely communicating project status.
- Relevant internship/co-op and/or hands-on experience that demonstrate development of both technical skills as well as leadership qualities.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.
- Flexible and adaptable mindset.
- Self-driven with the ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction.
- MS in materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, metallurgical engineering, polymer engineering, welding engineering, geology/geosciences and mining engineering or related technical subject area.
- Familiarity with standard methods for testing mechanical properties (including fatigue, fracture, creep, stress rupture) of metallic and soft materials.
- Familiarity and interest in at least one of the following areas:
- Friction stir welding and spin forming
- Mining and geophysical exploration
- Metallurgy and how it relates to processes such as casting and forging
- Metallic additive manufacturing (laser power bed) and its application to production hardware
